Students create a database of careers that interest them. As a class, they choose the basic design of the database and then as individuals they complete the database for their own use.

Students select a famous American person and research his or her background and contributions to society (early life, education, career, achievements, and contributions). They write an essay incorporating the following components: name, background, career, the difference this person and their career made to society as a whole. They write a poem about the person and create a poster with motivational information about the person.

Students select a biology-related career for research. They use school and community resources to gather information for this career. Students complete a college application. They share their findings with classmates.

Students follow up on their postsecondary education research. They investigate their interest and aptitudes. Students explore about careers in their interest areas. They are given their portfolios. Students discuss what they have discovered about the type of education they are going to need to pursue their dreams.
