Students experience some computer basics use by creating a title page for a story or report. While creating the title page using Student Writing Center, they see how to use educational software to create a finished product.

Students research various careers, types of cars, and housing. They examine the role education plays in the various types of cars people drive and the types of houses where they live.

Students create a three-five minute presentation that visually illustrates major aspects of the their lives. Using Movie Works software as a base, they integrate video, photography, artwork, graphic elements, and sound to produce the product.

Students create graphs using information from spreadsheets. They select a topic from the following choices: website use, digital cameras, spreadsheets, calculators or educational software. They tally the class results and create an Excel spreadsheet and a pie graph.

Students read a letter that Bill Gates wrote to the editor of HomeBrew Magazine. They explore the question of whether software should be free or proprietary. Individually, they write a letter to Bill Gates, responding to his arguments and supporting their point of view.
