Students engage in the second part of a two-part lesson on drug abuse. After reviewing an article and discussing it in class, they work in groups to complete a scavenger hunt that will have them looking for information from the article. The article is imbedded in a website included in this lesson plan.

Students examine how to make informed choices regarding drug and alcohol use. They participate in a class discussion about drug and alcohol use, and in small groups develop scenarios and solutions about helping a friend or relative who has a substance abuse problem.

Students discuss questions related to substance abuse. They receive a handout and discuss the terms used in the handout. Students role play peer pressure and ways to say No. They research the physical and legal effects of substance abuse.
