“It's an interesting idea to use the murals for a visual, but the subject matter is fairly controversial (stereotypical portrayals of Native Americans, Christopher Columbus, etc.) -- which is fine, but I think students need to be encouraged to think critically about the content of the paintings. Additionally, this is NOT an introductory lesson to mapping skills. It simply says "use all of these mapping symbols and skills" and then evaluate students on their use of those skills....when you've never even taught them in the first place. Bleah.”
