Students study several different types of Chinese sports played throughout history in China. They examine the historical perspective of the importance of sports in Chinese culture and create a final project using information about three types of Chinese sports of their choice in the format of a sports mobile.
Students discuss the impact that fans have on a sports team. After reading an article, they identify how Chicago Cubs fans are responding to their loss in the playoffs. With a partner, they develop surveys in which they give to family and friends about their habits at sporting events. They write newspapers articles illustrating the results of their survey.
Students role-play sports situations and determine the actions needed to stay safe from injuries. They define the term sports safety, develop short skits about situations involving sports safety, and work together in cooperative groups.

Students read about kid's sports, why it is important and discuss the factors affecting young players. In this kid's sports lesson, students create a list explaining why kid's don't participate. Students create a test to measure physical fitness.

They examine first hand the effect of forces by building their own luge track, making predictions, and testing their predictions. Working in groups they run tests, collect data, and make conclusions about the effect of forces on the sport of luging.
Young scholars do a cost/benefit analysis to see to what extent the public secor should subsidize new or rehabilitated stadiums for professional sports team.
