First graders experiment joining together adjectives and computers. Students grasp the concept of adjectives by a variety of hands-on experiences. Students writing skills are also reinforced and enveloped into this lesson plan. They practice incorporating adjectives in everyday activities.
Learners use sensory adjectives in the game "I Spy". In this adjective and descriptive phrases lesson students create a list of sensory adjectives for an item in their classroom. The other learners try to guess what item the student is describing. On a following day, the students build upon this activity by using more descriptive language.
Fifth graders investigate adjectives. In this grammar lesson, 5th graders explain what adjectives are and create their own sentences describing objects using adjectives correctly.
Fourth graders identify adjectives in sentences and come up with an adjective for every letter of the alphabet. In this adjectives lesson plan, 4th graders view a PowerPoint and share their alphabet adjectives with the class.
Stories are created, by students, using a variety of adjectives. 3-5th graders will learn about adjectives and use their new knowledge to create ad-lib stories to share with the class demonstrating their mastery of adjectives, indefinite adjectives, and predicate adjectives. Fifth graders examine how to write a story using comparative and superlative adjectives. They listen to the book "Pig Pigger Piggest" by Rick Walton and identify the comparative adjectives used in the story. Students then write a rough draft of their own version of "The Three Little Pigs" that includes adjectives on each page.
Third graders describe an unknown object that is in a bag using their sense of touch to develop a working definition of what an adjective is. They interact with a website to correctly identify the adjectives. They write and word process a story in which a partner highlights all of the adjectives.
In this language arts lesson, students listen to the book "Many Luscious Lollipops," in order to become familiar with adjectives. Students create four comic strip squares, using five adjectives in each square, after hearing the book. Each student reads their comic to the class upon completion. Solid lesson!
Students review adjectives and play a game where students compete to see who can write the most adjectives for a given noun. They write a story about one topic and try to use a variety of adjectives in sequence tto describe a noun.
Learners listen to the story Toad, then the story is reread without any adjectives. The class discusses the importance of details in a story. Then the class creates a collaborative book following the same story pattern.
