First graders sing America the Beautiful and understand the words to the song. In this singing social studies instructional activity, 1st graders become familiar with the images and vocabulary in America the Beautiful while singing the words.
Sixth graders examine the meaning and background of the song, "America the Beautiful." For this "America the Beautiful" lesson, 6th graders read the words and history of the song and answer comprehension questions about it.
Young scholars listen to story America the Beautiful, discuss places in America they have visited, define beautiful, and create and illustrate class book with pictures and words from song, America the Beautiful.
Third graders familiarize themselves with the use of an atlas. In this mapping lesson plan students learn about the creation of the national anthem and 'America the Beautiful' Using the worksheet provided, 3rd graders map particular regions across America, using key facts provided about the regions, with an atlas.
Learners study the natural and man-made physical features of America. They read from the book, America the Beautiful, and identify some of the natural and man-made features included in the book.
Eighth graders identify what they feel makes America beautiful. They participate in a class discussion, create a collage using magazine pictures and printed images, and write an essay explaining what they feel is beautiful about America.
Third graders examine how music can be remembered with the help of pictures that they draw. Using America the Beautiful as an example, 3rd graders draw pictures that come to their minds about parts of the song that are difficult for them to remember.

In this American flag lesson, 3rd graders practice the Pledge of Allegiance, discuss and learn the meaning of the American flag stripes, stars, and colors, and sing 'America the Beautiful.' Students learn law and regulations for the flag. Students practice folding the flag. As assessment, students must know the meaning of the flags elements and fold the flag.
