When I am trying to find an alternative lesson from my norm, I try Lesson Planet, and always find a lesson that I can use. Sometimes a different perspective from a colleague can be that "point" that will work for that concept. I really feel that Lesson Planet is very well organized and easy to use. Young scholars explore biology by completing an animal anatomy activity. In this horse lesson, students utilize the Internet to view the bone structure of a horse. Young scholars identify a list of anatomy vocabulary on the horse and view the muscular system as well.
Learners create a model of the digestive system. In this human anatomy activity the students examine features of the digestive system. The learners perform an experiment.
Students investigate organs, anatomical planes and transverse sections of the human body using gel people. In this human anatomy lesson plan, students use gel molds, gel and food items to make models of the human body. They create a scanning image of the gel body, they make transverse cuts, and they identify anatomical planes. They answer 6 questions about the organs of the human body, the planes and directions and the transverse cut.
Twelfth graders create an artistic version of a Vetruvian teen. In this anatomy activity, 12th graders design an experiment to test the theory of the ideally proportioned man. They present their findings in class.
