Students explore the idea of movements in the visual arts. They differentiate between some of the most well known movements in Western art. Students classify Impressionist and Neoclassical movement paintings.
Students make art presentations about different pieces of artwork. There is critical thinking done in groups to form conclusions about various artists and artworks. The focus is upon the history of art and the communication of its visual representation. The groups form opinions using critical thinking skills that could influence possible extension activities.
Students explore pop art. They research the history of pop art and identify artist (s) responsible for this movement. Students produce a print using images from our culture. Additional cross curriculum activities are included.
Students examine how pop art compliments music. In this arts lesson, students explore the elements of pop art and replicate those elements in their own piece of art.
Students explore the Pop Art Movement and create a sculpture that is based on a visual pun or play on words inspired by the Pop Art Movement. The product produced may use humor, allegory, metaphors, or be a parody.
Students create their own environmental art after the teacher shows them a variety of example and has a discussion about it. They then write an initial personal definition of environmental art.
