Students use ACC basketball statistics to practice the process of converting fractions to decimals then to percents and explore how to create and edit a spreadsheet. They use this spreadsheet to analyze their data.
Students add the value of various musical notes to win a chance to shoot a basketball. They compete in teams and consider the values of quarter, half and whole notes to complete related math problems.
Fifth graders observe and demonstrate basketball defense skills. They discuss the importance of basketball defense, observe the correct stance and how to slide, and demonstrate the skills while playing a game in teams.

In this lesson plan, Five Pass Basketball, learners play basketball in order to develop basic skills. Students practice dribbling and passing. Learners are divided into two teams and have to pass the ball five times to their teammates without the other team taking the ball. The first team to get the five passes wins the game.
