Students complete a unit on Black History Month. They explore various websites, develop a diagram of the Underground Railroad, create a postage stamp for an African American, and develop a resume for an African American scientist.
Learners complete a unit on Black History Month. They explore various websites, develop a timeline of Dr. King's life, create a travel brochure for the King Center, design a commercial starring Jesse Owens, design a baseball card for Jackie Robinson, and create a poster illustrating an African American woman's accomplishments.
Students research famous black Americans for Black History Month. In this art/black history lesson, students do internet research to explore the various achievements of black Americans throughout history. Students design a postage stamp, creating symbols to represent the contributions made by the famous black American they researched.
Students explore prejudice as they learn about Dr. Martin Luther King. In this black history month lesson, students work in groups to research and answer questions about Dr. Martin Luther King using eLibrary and record their findings. Students create a PowerPoint presentation to share their findings.
Students create a PowerPoint presentation using graphics, text, and animation. They are shown how to do slide transition, and create slides. Students create a PowerPoint presentation celebrating Black History Month. They are shown how to conduct research on the web, and also shown how to cut and paste text form the Internet into their presentations.
Ninth graders identify reasons why the United States celebrates Black History Month to create an essay that supports their ideas. They categorize their information in basic outline form with main ideas and supporting details to create a 4-6 paragraph essay.
Fourth graders complete a brief research biography about a famous Black historical figure in honor of Black History Month. The completed biographies were then assembled into a complete class set in alphabetical order.
Students commemorate black history month. Using the Internet, information books and printed web pages, students research the events of Mary Seacole's life. Students role play Mary Seacole being interviewed for a job.
