Students study that the human body is made up of different systems whose functions are related. They draw and label their traced body outlines which include at least five body systems.
Students discover how nutrition impacts major body systems. In this nutrition lesson, students brainstorm how they think the digestive system works and discuss how essential nutrients impact major body systems. They work in groups to research different body systems, and each group creates a poster and slogan to promote healthy eating.
Young scholars pretend to be personal trainers. In this body systems lesson, students watch a video about the systems of the body and summarize their function or job. Young scholars work in groups and pretend they are personal trainers for a client. They must develop and present an exercise and nutrition plan that helps their client reach their goals.
Fifth graders, in groups, create a short skit that shows how body systems work together.
Students create a diagram of the human body. In this body systems lesson, students create a diagram of all the body systems they have studied using transparencies to layer one system over another.
Third graders investigate the body systems. In this health instructional activity, 3rd graders watch a PowerPoint presentation about the body systems. They sing a song and complete a vocabulary puzzle.
Third graders become familiar with the systems of the body by viewing a multimedia presentation. In this amazing body lesson, 3rd graders match parts of the body to the system. Students list the body systems and the jobs done by that system.
Learners review body systems and their functions. As a representative of the Duodenum Dynamics Ad Agency, they create a travel brochure for the Anatomy Travel Bureau.
Third graders review what they've learned about body systems. In this safety and assessment lesson, 3rd graders review all information covered in lessons 1-4. Students complete stations where they create a safety poster to illustrate the importance of bicycle helmets, practice recording their pulse and locate their deltoid muscles.
Second graders complete a unit of lessons on the body systems. They watch the video, Magic Schoolbus Inside the Human Body, trace their bodies and construct the systems on the tracing, simulate the digestive system, and participate in various demonstrations.
