Business & Management Careers Lesson Plans

Students work together to discuss the benefits of choosing a career in business verses a humanitarian career. They identify the values and knowledge needed in each career. They share their thoughts with the class and answers questions.

Students explore the concept of what it really means to listen. They play the "Candy Game" and complete a discussion. They develop basic business skills and explore a variety of business careers while increasing their listening skills.

Students examine planetary movement and its relation to the tide.In this gravity lesson students describe how and why the high and low tides change every day.

Students engage in a lesson that is concerned with the use of statistics and surveys and how they should be read. They create a survey and take it home to collect data. Then students display the data on a graph that is displayed in class.

Students study a variety of math concepts in the context of cooking up a meal. In this math lesson, students calculate surface area and volume. They draw and interpret different types of graphs.

Students study conics and how they are used today.  In this mathematical lesson students construct and slice cones after viewing a demonstration. 

Students explore the ideas of future contracts. They view a video discusssing the commodities markets and financial assets. They specifically examine the 1970's foreign exchange markets.

Students analyze the contributions of Horace Mann. In this public education lesson, students research Internet and print sources regarding the history of American education, Mann.s life, the Morrill Act of 1862, and the Northwest Ordinance.

Students write a one page description of a career in the Science/Natural Resources Career Cluster.  In this careers lesson, students identify the career majors and at least two careers in each major in the Science/Natural Resources Career Cluster.  Students discover course of study and recommended electives.

Young scholars research the six career clusters and select one for themselves. In this career clusters lesson, students view a PowerPoint about career clusters and their pathways. Young scholars discuss graduation requirements and answer questions for the activity.
