Students assess, by analyzing historic New York Times front pages, how print journalism reflects the values and language of the society in which it is created.

Young scholars explore if the aging population has any effect on the economy and overall well-being of society.  In this economic activity, students research the economic impact of the older citizens.  They develop their own ideas and share their findings by writing a paper.  Their thoughts are further developed through class discussion on the topic.

Eleventh graders explore the world of international business. In this Korean culture instructional activity, 11th graders consider the impact of the international business on Korea's culture and then create business portfolios that feature Korean facts and resources.

Students create: Letter requesting a meeting for a presentation of service/ product; database listing with fields for products/customer listings; invoice with logo showing a sale; a presentation to promote product/service.

Students use the Internet and research facts about the Oval Office. They create a budget to redecorate it using a spreadsheet to show the expenses. They create design boards and present findings in a slideshow presentation.

Students explore and assess the importance of music to the economy of Louisiana. They review and analyze the jobs, skills and careers found and needed in the state's music industry as well as how to meet and make personal contact with people in the music industry. Each student also evaluates musical performances and recordings.

Students pretend to be an event planner of a company who must plan, invite, and justify costs of the annual company picnic. They need to name their company, determine its size, and plan all the details for the picnic.

Students research family vacation opportunities using web-bases resources. They design a table as they compile the necessary data based on the given criteria. They design a slideshow presentation and a brochure using the research information. They present the information orally to the class.

Ninth graders investigate how advertisements are targeted to specific audiences. They design a print product introduction and develop a commercial for that product. They use the Internet to find product information before completing a PowerPoint presentation of the product.

Learners identify the positive effects that human monitoring has on the conservation of biodiversity. They create an electronic field guide by inserting and modifying a table in Microsoft Word. Students view a powerpoint about what biodiversity is and how electronic field guides can be used.
