Sixth graders explore religions of the world, In this ancient civilizations lesson plan, 6th graders create a Venn diagram or other graphic organizer that shows the origins, customs, writings, and beliefs of Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism and Buddhism. Students then compose a paragraph showing comparisons and contrasts choosing 2 of the religions.
Students learn the major organ systems in the human body and research simple machines on the Internet; They design an informational brochure about a medical profession and present that career topic to the class.
Students investigate the ancient structures of Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, and China. In small groups, they conduct research, evaluate their findings within the group, create visual aides, and complete an Internet treasure hunt.
Students, in groups, research the issues of the rainforest considering the opinions of many people who have interests in the rain forest and then present their findings to the class.
Third graders explore cultures that use clay figures in the art of storytelling. They discover the importance of cultural history being passed through generations. Students form their own storyteller from a clay figure.

In this folk tales lesson, students read an American, Mexican, Irish, British and Native American folk tale and identify the different plots, characters and settings. Students define vocabulary terms from the stories and identify the geographic location of the specific country.
Students prepare a creative demonstration of how Earth and Mars revolve around the Sun. In this astronomy lesson, students determine the different challenges engineers face when building spacecrafts. They draw possible paths for a spacecraft traveling to Mars.
