Students explore the United States. For this geography skills lesson, students collaborate to research the agriculture, economy, entertainment, landforms, and famous people of selected states.
Students, at-risk learners, identify by date, impact and stage of United States development at least three major inventions, discoveries, famous people, or events.
Students conduct research in order to learn about different countries and the cultures associated with them. The research is divided into topics that include art and artists, business, cuisine, entertainment, fashion, geography, history, literature, famous people, places, politics, sports and the cinema.
Students discuss the meaning of a variety of character traits. They name famous people who have shown these traits. Students select a newspaper article about someone who has shown good character. They complete the worksheet, focusing on the five W's (who, what, where, when, why).
Pupils research the history of space travel and the properties of thrust in air travel. In this space travel lesson, students read a book about astronauts and study pictures of space travel shots. Pupils discuss famous people in space and watch a shuttle launch. Students make a balloon shuttle to study thrust.
