Students complete pre reading, writing, during reading, and interdisciplinary activities for the book Farmer Boy Days. In this reading lesson plan, students complete journal entries, go over vocabulary, answer short answer questions, have discussions, and more.
Students experiment with a situation as if they were farmers in a co-op. In this democratic decision making lesson plan, students role-play as farmers that are members of a co-op and a have a serious decision to make about spreading their wealth or keeping money for themselves. The students are given role play cards with different situations, then must write about why they made their decision.
Students share information about falcons, then read about how farmers are using falcons. In this falcon instructional activity, the teacher introduces the article with a discussion and vocabulary activity, then students read the news report and participate in a think-pair-share discussion about ways animals are used for crop protection.
