Third graders examine geography by creating a booklet. In this natural resources lesson, 3rd graders investigate the agriculture in the state of Louisiana by utilizing the web and completing a graphic organizer. Students collaborate with classmates and compile their Louisiana natural resource information into a readable booklet.
Students examine the effects of the loss of the bison after the Europeans arrived in North America. They conduct a demonstration using beans to demonstrate the difference between the number of bison before and after the arrival of the Europeans, and discuss current natural resources that are over-harvested.
Students explore the ways in which past civilizations used natural resources, and compare that to how we use the environment today.
Students write a one page description of a career in the Science/Natural Resources Career Cluster.
