French 4 Lesson Plans

Students read short stories and legends from the Contes et legendes du monde francophone reader. They read the story on the Internet and follow the links to information on Gabon . They relate the stories in their own words in French and act out the stories to show comprehension of the differences between them.

Learners study the works of the major French Impressionist painters: Renoir, Monet, Degas, Gauguin, Seurat, ToulouseLautrec, Utrillo, Pissarro, Cassatt, Morisot, and Caillebotte. They produce products for presentation, and use reading and writing strategies in various activities.

Students study the trial of the legendary Crusader Knights who were tried for heresy by Pope Clement. They read a text which about the trial proceedings of the Knights Templar, review vocabulary and complete matching exercises.

Students become familiar with basic French cafémenu items by viewing pictures of various foods and drinks and identifying them in French, and practice proper pronunciation by ordering foods in French, while taking turns role playing customers and café waitstaff.

Students complete Internet activities about U.S. history and take a test.

Students explore U.S. history by answering study questions with classmates. In this New England Colonies lesson, students identify the thirteen colonies and read assigned text about the creation of New England and the United States. Students answer study questions based on the text and complete a test after several days of reading.

Young scholars are introduced to the French language. Individually, they are given an index card in which they fill out their information and then introduce themselves to their classmates using key phrases. They also identify their family members and what types of housing they reside in. In groups, they review the numbers and the alphabet.
