Learners read many pages about The Opera by Charles Garnier. In this opera lesson plan, students read 8 pages on the background, artwork, music, dancing, and technicalities of this opera.


Tenth graders cooperatively work together to produce a medieval banquet featuring historical characters from 700-1450 CE. They recreated the artistic, cultural, and intellectual dynamic of the medieval and Christian worlds. Classes are working together on the semester long project. There is a performance of a music or drama at the banquet as well. Students use their portfolio's to help with the production of the banquet.


Students in an ESL classroom develop a survey to give to their local community to determine the awareness of HIV and AIDS. In groups, they develop and create a brochure to hand out to teenagers in area on how to protect themselves. To end the lesson, they evaluate their effectiveness in getting through to the young.
