Pupils use the poem "Le Cameleon" to increase his/her French vocabulary in previously learned categories. They are introduced to use of certain verbs in the command form. They learn to creatively write in French following the pattern of the poem.
Students study the French vocabulary for variety of vegetables. They name the vegetables as they add them to soup which they make in class.
Learners study the works of the major French Impressionist painters: Renoir, Monet, Degas, Gauguin, Seurat, ToulouseLautrec, Utrillo, Pissarro, Cassatt, Morisot, and Caillebotte. They produce products for presentation, and use reading and writing strategies in various activities.
Fifth graders enact working and/or being a customer at French markets. Students then buy all the items on a shopping list at the appropriate markets (this is different from our supermarkets).
Students participate in contrived conversation in French to determine preferences for known food items.
Students brainstorm French words that represent various parts of speech and then generate a slideshow about each one. Classmates watch and evaluate the presentation using a rubric.
Learners explore the style of writing and the use of allegory in, "Le Petit Prince" by Antoine de St. Exupery. They brainstorm an allegory they could create from a prominent character in the news then they write a story in French using the allegory and the style of the author.
Seventh graders identify in French various farm animals while playing a game of charades. After creating their own sets of flashcards with pictures of the animals on one side and the word in French on the other, they use them in a variation of the game, "Seven Up." As part of their assessment, groups of students invent vocabulary-oriented board games.
Students discover French language vocabulary. In this French language instructional activity, students create a harvest soup and sing a French song.
Learners role play hypothetical situations in order to practice French language communication skills. They research the healthcare system and how it can be accessed by the average citizen of France.
