This lesson has students identify the geography and climate of their state. They list the basic human needs and describe how to meet those needs in the conditions identified. Then they write a letter to travelers or explorers to their state explaining the conditions.
4th graders examine the effects of human activities on the physical environment. In this geography lesson, 4th graders study areas in the West region of the United States. 4th graders watch a video about the depletion of salmon in this area and use graphic organizers to record information. 4th graders write a paper expressing ideas on how to preserve the salmon population.
