When I am trying to find an alternative lesson from my norm, I try Lesson Planet, and always find a lesson that I can use. Sometimes a different perspective from a colleague can be that "point" that will work for that concept. I really feel that Lesson Planet is very well organized and easy to use. Twelfth graders graph functions using paper and pencil. They observe the proper use of graphing technology. Students complete more difficult problems using the graphing calculator. They compare their hand graphs to the calculator generated graphs.
Students explore the concept of slope, rate of change, and slope-intercept form using a graphing calculator. In this graphing lesson, students graph lines with various slopes, rates of change, and in slope-intercept form.
Students discuss slope as the change in Y over the change in X and use graphing calculators to demonstrate. They evaluate slopes given two points and answer questions on slope over the Internet.
