Seventh graders study how geography affects the development of civilizations. They examine how geography affects settlement, how civilizations met and continue to meet their needs and the foundations of the democracy we enjoy in Canada today.
Young scholars research the orbits of objects in the solar system. They change colors in an Excel chart and change settings in an Excel chart. They save a file to a network drive or other storage device.
Learners create a classroom planetarium. in small groups, they research the planets using the Planet Information Sheet. In addition, they use balloons and paper mache to create planet models.
Sixth graders create and analyze a model of the solar system. They anaylze and interpret data from graphs and tables. Students use technology (CD-ROMs, Internet and multi-media) to gather and present information on a planet. They compare planetary distances.
