Fix It! Natural Resource Restoration

Students investigate ways to repair and preserve coastal resources. In this natural resource restoration lesson plan, students give examples of human and natural activity that has damaged coastal resources, they describe 3 restoration projects and they describe 3 ways people can contribute to coastal restoration. Groups of students investigate a case study and prepare a report related to coastal restoration.

Students investigate various economic activities generated from natural resources in Canada. They conduct research on the 'Atlas of Canada' website, identify communities that grew as a result from selected economic activities, and take an online quiz.

The Natural State

Following an examination of the Arkansas state quarter, your class will discuss the state's nickname: "The Natural State." They will focus on its abundance of natural resources. Printables for the activities are included. 

 

The Delicate Balance - Iowa's Natural Resources

Students discover the natural resources in Iowa by studying it's history.  In this environmental lesson, students observe a topographical map of Iowa and identify where its most valuable resources are.  Students complete an Iowa name matching game and other activities based on the state's history.

 

Smart about Science/Natural Resources

Students write a one page description of a career in the Science/Natural Resources Career Cluster.  In this careers lesson, students identify the career majors and at least two careers in each major in the Science/Natural Resources Career Cluster.  Students discover course of study and recommended electives.

 

Global Resources: What Will You Do with Your Power?

Students examine the human impact on natural resources. They read and discuss an article, evaluate nations regarding their environmental problem-solving, develop a presidential speech on the environment, and conduct a natural resources scavenger hunt.

 

Middle East: Land, Resouces, and Economics

Students identify and describe major geographical features of the Middle East and explain how these features and other natural resources influence the economy of the area. Then they research one of the middle-eastern countries listed, identifying country's physical geography, the population, average life span, the climate, the country's GDP, the industries supported by the country, and what the country exports.

 

What Are Natural Resources

First graders identify natural resources and place items into the proper category. They complete a Natural Resources Chart and draw things listed on the chart. After walking the school grounds, 1st graders write and draw about things they found and categorize the natural resource from which they was made.

 

Natural Resources and Land Use

Seventh graders explore natural resources and land use. In this geography skills lesson, 7th graders view a PowerPoint presentation on the topics and discuss the distribution of natural resources and land use issues in East Asia. The PowerPoint is not included with the lesson.
