Have your class learn about marine life through this resource. This comprehensive lesson has learners discuss marine life, learn key vocabulary, discuss environmental concerns, and play games related to migration and predator/prey relationships. While the focus is on Long Island Sound, this could be used to discuss any area populated with marine life.

Tenth graders create food web displays in the classroom. In this ecology instructional activity, 10th graders identify the different pollutants in the environment and their effect on organisms. They collect samples of sediments from the harbor and analyze their chemical composition.

Students examine the components of ecosystems. They compare and contrast an ecosystem to an aquatic ecosystem. They examine a local ecosystem and discuss its components.

Students discover how large the ocean is as part of our world.  In this investigative lesson students do an activity to see how much ocean covers our world, record data and graph their information.
