In the Future: Appleseeds

Students participate in activities based on readings in Appleseeds magazine.  In this making predictions instructional activity, students read articles about the future and complete a KWL on the future.  Students discuss vocabulary from the articles and make predictions about the future.

Magazine Mania

Seventh graders examine the components and structure of magazines. In groups they develop a magazine based on the novel of their choice. Comic strips and promotional advertisements about the novels are included in the magazine. Students design and give an oral presentation about their magazine.

Powder Magazine

Third graders complete activities in which they discover powder magazines and the history of South Carolina. They practice using new vocabulary and complete a worksheet after visiting the museum. They examine how families and communities worked together in the past.
