Young scholars examine the difference between hunger and malnutrition. They study the idea of hunger as a theme in literature while discovering how communities can solve hunger problems.
Sixth graders use a variety of resources to determine the importance of getting the proper nutrients. In this nutrition lesson plan, student complete an activity in which they examine the world issue of hunger and malnutrition. They locate areas on a map where malnutrition is a problem.
Students attempt to find innovative ways to solve the problem of malnutrition. They focus on finding workable and reasonable solutions, adoptable by any patient. Students enhance critical thinking to create an avenue by which alternatives are dealt with individually and collectively.
Fifth graders investigate hunger and malnutrition. For this hunger and malnutrition lesson, 5th graders study the importance of proper nutrition. Students explore the scope of hunger and malnutrition problems.
Students discuss nutrition and identify components of healthy diet, view Food Guide Pyramid and create Personal Food Pyramid listing all foods eaten in past 24 hours, compare their pyramids with standard Food Guide, and determine where dietary changes need to be made. Students then read and discuss scenarios on "What Am I Missing?" cards, and diagnose hypothetical cases of malnutrition.
