Middle Ages Russia Lesson Plans

Students examine the trade that took place in Medieval Times. In this Middle Ages lesson, students read and discuss the roles of the guild members, the town merchants, and the individuals in trading goods. Students make maps of Medieval trade routes as well.

Students engage in a study of the resources of information that are used concerning the medieval ages of history. They look at primary and secondary resources while recording different types of information. Then questions are formulated from the inquiry.

Students review the most recent vocabulary list of French words. Using literature by Victor Hugo and Guy de Maupassant, they discover the history and culture of France. Using a map and the text, they locate the cities and regions of the country to end the lesson.

Eighth graders describe, analyze and evaluate the history of ancient Greece from 2000 to 300 B.C. They explore the influence of geography on Greek economical, social, and political development.

Students read about and discuss life of Russian geneticist Nikolai Vavilov, define terms related to field of genetics, complete worksheets, conduct seed experiments, observe and record results, and locate seed banks on world map or globe.

Students use a graphic organizer to research, compare and contrast two countries. They write a brief (or detailed - depending on age) report of their findings.

Tenth graders research geography and the process of creating a Powerpoint presentation. In pairs, they design their own game show, writing geography questions, and creating a Powerpoint presentation for other students to play their game.

Students examine the significance and symbolism of The Green Man. They create a Green Man using a monochromatic color scheme.

Eleventh graders investigate how Hitler was able to harness Germany. In this World War II lesson, 11th graders conduct primary and secondary source research to determine how Hitler used the Great Depression, charisma, scapegoats, and the Treaty of Versailles to take power of the country. Seventh graders pretend they are a peasant during the time of the March in China. They have been mistreated by Warlords and have very little in their homes. They have been approached by the Red Army to join forces with them. What will they do? They are to write down their thoughts, pros and cons of joining, and their final decision.
