Multimedia Career Lesson Plans

Elementary learners will create a multimedia research presentation. They are assigned different topics to research. Exploration of different types of multimedia software are examined in length. Essential questions and recommendations are included.

Help potential job seekers create a personal job options list that "fits" their personality type. They will discover specific occupational information about two chosen careers. Then they will identify the most important factors to keep in mind when choosing a career and create a personal business card that identifies them with their career titles.

Ninth graders will explore manufacturing careers. In this career instructional activity, 9th graders will explore career options through an interactive video-conference with an engineering professor or professional.

Students complete a unit about career choices. They conduct research on a selected career that interests them, conduct an interview, explore various websites, create a five-page HyperStudio stack, and write ten checks that relate to their business and enter them into a Quicken register.

Students create "commercials" for careers by using the Internet for research and a digital slideshow as the presentation method. They create a PowerPoint presentation about that career.

What is a hiring process?  Youngsters will investigate the process of interviewing and finding a suitable career. They will learn more about various careers, practice interviewing skills, learn how to write a thank you, and meet guest speakers.  additionally, they will demonstrate ways to treat colleagues and coworkers respectfully within their own peer groups.

Learners research career options. In this career awareness lesson, students work in groups to list the community occupations. Learners invite the career people to their school to participate in a Career Awareness Day. Students type and send thank you letters to the participants.

Students explore career opportunities. In this career exploration lesson, students discover jobs that fit their personality types as they use video and Internet sources based on Holland types. Students research careers that fit their personality types.

Students research the characteristics of specific occupations with personal career interests and aptitudes. In this career exploration lesson, students select three careers to explore and consider their own interests and aptitude. Students access the online occupational handbook and complete the research directions. Students complete written assignments and related worksheets for their career exploration.
