Students discover the diverse roles of hybridization among animals. They research certain examples of animal hybrids as a springboard to analyzing a zoo's potential exhibit of animal hybrids.
Become familiar with the basic concepts of inheritance. Your junior high students work through mulitple examples of crosses and calculate probabilities of trait occurance. The explain the concept that each parent contributes one half of the genetic material for each offspring. They see how geneticist produces hybrids for farmers.
Students examine the edible parts of a plant and explore their function. They define what makes a fruit classified as a fruit. They create a sketch or map or photo of a 1930s farm and justify their plant selections.
