Students recognize the provisions of federal Indian policy.  In this Federal Indian Policy lesson, students research legal documents (treaties).  Students research the Montana tribes. Students answer critical thinking questions based on the research information.

Third graders identify and locate seven Native American reservations in Montana. For this Native American culture lesson, 3rd graders learn the vocabulary necessary for the lesson which includes reservation, culture, and government. They locate Native Indian reservations in Montana using a map and research the languages and cultures of the people who live on the reservations.
