Responsibility Lesson Plans

Students describe what type of citizen they would like to be. In this citizenship lesson, students examine different types of participation in democracy. They determine what type of citizen they would choose to be before working in a group to produce an audio or visual presentation about civic responsibility which they share with an audience.

Eighth graders explore the concept of responsibility. In this debating responsibility lesson, 8th graders view scenarios with differing perspectives to debate avoiding or taking responsibility.

Students use the scientific method to perform a psychological experiment. In this persuasion methods lesson, students use various persuasion methods to test reactions and responses of people. Students collect data and chart the responses.

Students examine the variation among responses of seeds to the same dose of the same chemical. In reviewing their seed investigation, students note that sometimes not all seeds in the same bag responded in the same way.

Young scholars brainstorm lists of songs that were written in response to American wars; consider the patterns in the lists they create.

Elementary learners will participate in a coin-centered writing activity where they will learn the difference between summarization and critical response. They will demonstrate competence in the general skills and strategies of the writing process after gathering information for research purposes. Students examine the roles and responsibilities of the U.S. president and their own roles as citizens of a democracy. They get to express their views in a letter to the president.

Eighth graders explore the characteristics of responsibility. In this character lesson, 8th graders complete a self-evaluation. Students view a responsibility video. Students write a newspaper article on selected environmental issue.

Students write a personal response.  In this assessment of personal response lesson, students read a poem and then write a reaction to the poem.  They share their reaction with others.

Students give a personal response to specified readings.  In this personal response lesson, students read given selections and write a personal response to their readings.  They explore the possible motivation and reasons for the writing.
