Middle schoolers complete several projects on the Middle Ages. In this world history lesson, students complete language arts, social studies, math, and science projects. Some of these include: comparing a teenager's life now to that in the Middle Ages, writing a report about castles, and constructing a 3-D model of a village.
Eighth graders discover how the late Middle Ages influence present society. Among the discussions, they compare aids in Africa with the Black Plague of the Middle Ages. In pairs, 8th graders create fairy tales reflecting life during the Middle Ages.
Fourth graders read and write about the religious and philosophical ideas of medieval society. They create diagrams and timelines on the Middle Ages in England as well as a notebook about this time period.
Students brainstorm names and phrases and words related to the Middle Ages. In small groups, they read paragraphs about this period and write a summary for each paragraph. Students take lecture notes and attend a local "Medieval Feast."
Students engage in a study of the renaissance and how it influenced history from the middle ages. They conduct research using a variety of resources and focus upon the reading of a grade-level textbook. The information is used to compare and contrast the middle ages with the renaissance.
Eighth graders read about the Middle Ages in their textbook before completing a computer based treasure hunt. They complete a journal entry about an event that took place during the Middle Ages such as the Crusades, the Black Plague, or the Norman Conquest.

Students listen to an instructor-delivered lecture regarding the roles of monarchs, nobles, knights, and peasants. Students then write first- person narratives from their points of view.
Seventh graders read a biography and gather information about the Middle Ages. In this Leonardo Da Vinci lesson, 7th graders read to comprehend and analyze text. Students write in narrative style about an accomplishment of Leonardo da Vinci and share with classmates.
