For this stream characteristics lesson, students travel to a field site to construct a transect across a stream and measure the stream's velocity. They also use three methods to determine the stream discharge and compare the different results found from each method.


Fifth graders use a real life scenario of the wetlands to gather information on creatures of the habitat.  In this wetlands instructional activity, 5th graders research the interdependence of organisms in a healthy habitat. Students collected samples and photographs in groups on field trips.  Students classify their information and share what they've learned.
