Shrimp Lesson Plans

3rd graders examine brine shrimp through "A Sea Monkey's Life" story. They study the living environments and life cycle of brine shrimp. They look at brine shrimp and cysts through a microscope, identifying new vocabulary that was introduced in the story, then draw and label parts of a brine shrimp.

Learners discuss the Great Salt Lake and conduct an experiment that shows how weather affects the hatching of brine shrimp from the Great Salt Lake.
