5th graders, while in the computer lab, view a PowerPoint presentation on troubleshooting problems with a computer. They are guided through some common problems that fifth graders may encounter and should be able to solve prior to notifying the teacher that they need help with a computer problem.
In this lesson learners review catalogs of different types of video or computer games. In groups, they write an explanation for each game. They create a screen highlight from a game of their choice and illustrate it on a piece of construction paper. They can use any type of media to present it to the class.
Students develop their technology skills. In this computer programming lesson, students use Alice software to complete programming tasks and ultimately to program a video game or movie.
Learners use music notation software. In this music technology lesson, learners practice creating a score, adding a clef and placing notes on a staff using the software. Learners then video and take pictures of each other performing the music.
3rd graders study bio poems. In this poetry lesson, 3rd graders write a poem about themselves using a bio poem form. 3rd graders then create a HyperStudio stack of their poems by typing the lines of their poems onto different cards.
This lesson has students utilize computer programs to operate a simple robot. In this technology lesson, students create robots using Lego pieces and simple motors to move them. This lesson has students measure the speed of the robots by running Robolab software on their computer and recording the data using graphs.
