Students, with dive partners, explore coral reefs through scuba diving. They also explore radial symmetry and bilateral symmetry.
Third graders complete a unit of lessons on the distinguishing characteristics of five classes of vertebrates. They differentiate between vertebrates and invertebrates, assemble a rodent skeleton, observe an experiment, and compose a poem.
Students examine how marine protected areas in various countries are used to protect natural and cultural resources.
Students investigate the different types of Plankton and analyze the importance of plankton in the marine food chain. They research filter feeding and evaluate the basic principles of an experiment.

Students investigate the various factors that influence the Pacific Ocean and Monterey Bay, California. They watch a video about Monterey Bay and take notes, and conduct research and write a report about a specific organism living in the Monterey Bay area.
Seventh graders examine the concept of a game using integers and focus upon the skills of computation and estimation. The game is designed by the students who make the game board and create the rules that must illustrate all the operations of integers.
Students research a marine invertebrate and create an illustrated report to contribute to a classroom exhibit. They write a brief report about their invertebrate and create a colorful illustration, painting, or 3-D model.
