Explore vocabulary while reading Dandelion Learners record their learning using a word journal or discovery chart, and the whole class reviews the meaning of each word using examples.

Students analyze tier two vocabulary words. In this vocabulary lesson, students explore their comprehension of tier two vocabulary words found while reading Mama, Do You Love Me? and record their learning using a word journal or discovery chart.

Students expand his/her vocabulary and identify roots of new vocabulary words with high-frequency Greek and Latin roots and affixes. They also complete a tree for each word about which they are unsure by writing the root or affix on the root section of the tree and the key word that contains the root or affix in the trunk section of the vocabulary tree.

Students review key physics terms using a Visual Thesaurus. In this science instructional activity, student groups compete against each other to correctly identify "imposter" words from a list of related physics vocabulary terms.

Learners practice their vocabulary using words from life science.  They read new words associated with life science but must guess the definition.  Students discuss their initial definitions, later receiving the real definitions on a worksheet to be included on a quiz.

Students learn new words through many different games. In this lesson about vocabulary, students will have an opportunity to reinforce word study. Students make their own dictionary with new words by making ABC books, or figure out unfamiliar words by sounding them out with the help of a six-step strategy. Three other games are also included to help encourage word practice making this a great resource for teachers.
