Students design an experiment to be conducted aboard an orbiter in space. They analyze the benefits and drawbacks of conducting experiments in space. They predict how conducting experiments in space affect the future of human space travel.

Students brainstorm what they already know about space exploration. Groups chose a Canadian astronaut about which to create a slideshow. They research on the internet and in books to find information about their astronaut.

Students examine the geography of Japan. In groups, they identify the effects of the lack of space and how it affect the behaviors of the Japanese. They explain the need to cooperate with others in order to survive. Creating hypothesis which links space and behavior, they find information that supports their ideas.
