Students access a variety of Thanksgiving themed websites. They locate information on the Pilgrims and Native Americans. They examine Squanto, the Wampanoag Tribe, Samoset and the history of Thanksgiving.

Studens create turkey napkin holders. They discuss how Thanksgiving originated and why we celebrate this holiday. They create their napkin holders using craft sticks, glue guns, construction paper, feathers, and glitter.

Students review the reasons why Thanksgiving is celebrated in the United States. Using the internet, they research the history of the holiday and discover what the first Thanksgiving was like. They also examine a typical menu for a Thanksgiving dinner and create their own menu for the feast.

Students research the Internet to find recipes for their favorite Thanksgiving foods. After locating recipes, students create a recipe book using PowerPoint and arrange their recipes in alphabetical order. Students also incorporate math by locating units of measurement used in the recipes.
