Standards
1: Communication: Students will communicate in languages other than English using both spoken and written forms of the target language to demonstrate a wide range of skills including: Interpersonal - interacting with others to provide and obtain information; Interpretive - understanding and interpreting spoken and written language on a variety of topics; and Presentational - conveying information to listeners and readers for a variety of purposes.
2: Culture: Students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of other cultures, and an awareness of the interaction between the following aspects of culture: Perspectives - ideas, meanings, attitudes, values, and beliefs; Practices - patterns of social interactions; and Contributions - literature, art, music, foods, exports, and leisure activities.
3: Comparisons: Students will develop insights into the complex nature of language and culture by comparing native and target languages and the cultures.
4: Connections: Students will acquire information and make connections to other disciplines, with other perspectives, and between their native language and the target language.
5: Communities: Students will participate in multilingual communities at home and around the world: directly - by using the target language within and beyond the school setting; indirectly - by using the language for personal growth and enrichment.
