Assess whether your kindergartners can identify numbers in random order using two sets of numeral cards 1-10 and 11-20. Starting with a small group and the 1-10 deck give your learners the task of putting the cards into order from smallest to largest and have them read the cards in the order they laid them down out loud. Notice if they are reciting the numbers from rote memory or if they are able to identify them correctly. A great assessment for the beginning of the school year to test the number sense and counting skills of your new class.
