How Do You Find the Volume of a Cone?

The formula to find the volume of a cone is volume equals one-third times the base times the height. The base can be found by using the formula to find the area of a circle: base equals pi times radius squared. So it seems that the area of the base needs to be found to solve for the area of a cone.
