Self-Management

Young scholars listen and scan for information and identify purpose in Transcendentalist writing. For this self-management lesson, students identify main and supporting details. Young scholars evaluate whether or not the author achieved his purpose as they read Transcendentalist writings such as "Self-Reliance" by Ralph Waldo Emerson.  Students create a personal mission statement and discuss their ideas of happiness.

When plans are needed, and time is short, I begin here for help from my colleagues. The framework of lessons, excellent worksheets, and multimedia presentations has proved extremely helpful.
