Here is a really fun way to integrate self-portraits, cartooning, and basic computer skills. The class learns to use Photoshop to manipulate a hand-drawn, cartoon, or photographic image of themselves onto a separate background. They brainstorm ways their image is going to interact with a cartoon companion in the photo, choose a background and then put it all together to create a fun self-portrait. Prior to beginning the activity students need to be familiar with using scale, layering, and rotation techniques commonly used in Photoshop.
