In this algebraic solutions learning exercise, 9th graders solve 10 different sets of simultaneous equations. First, they solve one of the equations such that one variable is defined in terms of the other. Then, students take the new definition of the one variable and substitute it for the same variable in the second equation. Finally, solve the equation.
