There are none in sight as the team enters the village.\u003cbr/\u003eThe female Marines start trying to strike up conversations with the few old men and young children who venture outdoors.\u003cbr/\u003eBut the villagers are wary of meeting the patrol.\u003cbr/\u003eThis man says \"If the Taliban knows that the females are coming to talk to our females, they aren't going to spare anyone here.\"\u003cbr/\u003eAnd a huge hurdle for the Female Team is that they only have male interpreters.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE (English): Corporal Sarah Furrer, Female Engagement Team \u003cbr/\u003e\"We haven't had a lot of interaction with women here, we don't have a female interpreter so it's kind of hard to do that. The males won't let us speak to women without a female present so without their permission we're not really allowed to talk to them.\"\u003cbr/\u003eWomen soldiers were assigned to search women at checkpoints in Iraq -- to much success.
