But the campaign to stop animal  testing has found opposition with those trying to find a cure for AIDS in humans.\u003cbr/\u003eAbout three thousand people carried flags from the White House to the Capitol,  chanting anti-cruelty slogans as they went. \u003cbr/\u003eThe purpose of the march was to convey the message that animals may not have the  same rights as people but they do have the basic right to live without confinement or  torture.\u003cbr/\u003eThe marchers complained there was an animal holocaust going on all around us, and if  people could simply see the way animals were treated and killed to make food, they  would stop eating meat. \u003cbr/\u003eSeveral celebrities, including the Golden Girls' Rue McClanahan and James Cromwell,   who played the farmer in the hit film \"Babe\", were there.\u003cbr/\u003eIf we operate out of compassion and humanness we'll do the right thing in every area  that needs to be addressed.
