Close of smoke coming out of stove\u003cbr/\u003eFuel for cooking is an important commodity in the developing world. \u003cbr/\u003eFirewood is a popular option but decades of unregulated logging and the reliance of 55% of its rural population on firewood for fuel have turned El Salvador into the second most deforested nation in Latin America. \u003cbr/\u003eNow a new invention makes fuel burning more efficient and environmentally friendly. \u003cbr/\u003eFirewood is a precious commodity for millions of people in El Salvador's rural communities; 55 per cent of the rural population relies on it to cook their food or boil their water.\u003cbr/\u003eBut decades of unregulated logging of the country's forests have turned it into the second most deforested nation in Latin America after Haiti.\u003cbr/\u003eIt was with that in mind that Salvadorean inventor Rene Nunez Suarez began working on an alternative to the traditional open fire, wood stove cooking.\u003cbr/\u003eThe result was the Turbococina, or Turbostove,  a smokeless stove made of stainless steel and which, using low temperature combustion, results in a drastic reduction in the consumption of firewood and a 95 per cent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions.\u003cbr/\u003eNunez Suarez has spent nearly two decades perfecting this invention, which was named by NASA scientists as the best wood stove ever invented  for its climate friendly properties.\u003cbr/\u003eIt not only reduces the amount of wood cut down for cooking but also saves money for the Salvadorean families who spend significant amounts of their yearly income on firewood.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Turbo stove is composed of a cylinder that sits on top of ten injectors and a metal plate which controls the amount of air being pumped into the stove by a fan located at the bottom of the stove.\u003cbr/\u003eThe fan is powered by electricity, which can cause problems in rural areas with unreliable electricity supplies. whole month.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe fact that no smoke comes out of the stove during the cooking process means not only that contamination is eliminated, but also, respiratory problems, common among families that live with traditional wood stoves, are significantly decreased.\u003cbr/\u003eRene Nunez Suarez's goal is to distribute 100.000 Turbococinas across El Salvador.
